Abstract: Do individual and social preferences matter in school achievement? We conducted incentivized lab-in-the-field experiments in middle-schools to measure whether cooperation, inequality aversion and willingness to compete affect school achievement. We find that the willingness to compete is a strong predictor of children grades.
